Fabulous jewellery and stunning silver are to be found in abundance at Malcolm Appleby's workshop. People come from all over the world to see and buy his work. Born in 1946, Malcolm Appleby is considered to be one of the most original and highly skilled craftsmen working in Britain today. Known primarily as an engraver, he has been commissioned on many occasions by private companies, public bodies and individuals to produce wonderful pieces of silverware or jewellery. Recent public commissions include: the Royal Medal awarded annually by the Royal Society of Edinburgh; an engraved silver teapot and gold beaded silver bowl for Perth Art Gallery and Museum (2000); and a Sculptural Tablepiece for Bute House, the residence of the First Minister for Scotland (1999).

His designs are drawn from a wealth of inspiration - the natural world, myths and elemental ideas, and personal experience, sometimes laced with a mischievious sense of humour. His output ranges from bangles, belt buckles and brooches to cufflinks, necklaces, rings and bowls. New pieces are being completed all the time, and visitors are always welcome at the workshop by appointment.

Malcolm is a member of the Association of British Designer Silversmiths.
